Weather forecast Today, Cyclone Amphan Live Updates: Cyclone ‘Amphan’ is set to make landfall on Wednesday as it has moved closer to the mainland. The extremely severe cyclonic storm lay at 155km south-southeast of Paradip, Odisha, 280 km south of Digha, West Bengal at 5:30 am on Wednesday. Lakhs of people in West Bengal and Odisha have been evacuated from vulnerable areas and shifted to safer locations.

North coastal districts of Odisha will experience heavy rainfall and west Mednipore, south and north 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hoogli and Kolkata districts of West Bengal will see very heavy to extremely heavy rains. The landfall is expected between afternoon to evening.

Indian meteorological officials said Cyclone Amphan, which has now weakened from Super Cyclone to an Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm, will have a wind speed ranging between 155–165 km/hr when it makes landfall on Wednesday

Earlier on Tuesday, NDRF chief SN Pradhan in a media briefing said that a total of 41 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in West Bengal and Odisha to deal with any emergency situation arising out of Super Cyclone Amphan. IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said since the super cyclone is gradually weakening, its impact is unlikely to be very severe on Odisha.
